RACHEL NIFFENEGGER & PAUL NUDD - May 20 to July 22 - Western Exhibitions

Gallery Address:119 N Peoria St, Suite 2A
Chicago, IL 60607

USA

RACHEL NIFFENEGGER and PAUL NUDD traffic in arresting and grotesque imagery, depicting the body in ridiculous levels of distress. Though their goals differ -- Niffenegger’s heads and body parts suffer damages from external sources; Nudd’s figures seem diseased, comically so, from within -- both artists wrestle an indelible, even beautiful power from repulsive and revolting sources and materials.

Paul Klein reviewed Nudd's work at Western Exhibitions in his May 19 ArtLetter:

Paul Nudd

As I posted the picture of Scott Fife's sculpture of Diana Ross at the Body Builder and Sportsman Gallery, I noticed Paul Nudd's four framed drawings directly above the Fife sculpture.  I acquired the square Paul Nudd drawing at the top of the stack of four.

This Paul Nudd drawing resides happily in our home studio.

Here is a pic I snapped of Paul Nudd in his booth at the Artist Project 2007.  This was the inaugural run of the Artist Project and ran concurrently with Art Chicago.

Paul Nudd has a two person show at Western Exhibitions in Chicago at this time as well as a piece in
Seeing Is a Kind of Thinking: A Jim Nutt Companion
at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago
